In 2008, Salamander was bought by New River Gear and moved it's headquarters to Boise, Idaho where all production now takes place.

Our products are thoughtfully created and assembled in the US with a sense of pride and craftsmanship. Our employees are passionate individuals fueled by a love of whitewater, flatwater and well.... any kind of water.

Mike Leeds - Photographer

Salamander and New River Gear employee Mike Leeds shot most the photographs used in this catalog. Mike is native to Idaho, and has been exploring and kayaking since he was thirteen.

"Photography was always fascinating to me, as my kayaking ability got better i was naturally drawn to shooting photographs. Until the last couple years photography was a hobby, now its an obsession. I love how you can look at a moment in time forever. The goal of my work is to produce images that are pleasing to the eye, and also interesting enough to capture the imagination."
